Buyers, buyers everywhere in Destin, Florida.
About a month ago, I changed real estate companies to Eimers Group Real Estate (about to change names to e Group Real Estate) a forward thinking and technologically advanced company. The reason? Leads. Leads equals buyers. I haven’t been this busy in I don’t remember how long! It’s awesome.
Why am I telling you this? Because with all the negative press, all the depressing news, there are still buyers buying real estate. Sellers are selling and becoming more realistic on their prices, and buyers are coming back.
Here are the numbers of closed sales of condos and homes (south of the bay), from the Destin Bridge to the East end of Hwy 30A (Inlet Beach) comparing January – March 2008 and January – March 2009.
Condos
2008 2009
31 26 January
36 87 February
55 51 March
Single Family Homes
2008 2009
46 44 January
49 60 February
65 62 March
What does this tell us? Even though the economy is in the toilet, people are still buying real estate in Destin, Florida and the surrounding area. (I didn’t include sales to our north in Niceville/Crestview or west in Fort Walton).
Our current buyers are end users, too. Yes, some are purchasing as a long-term investment and others just want to be at the beach. When a buyer buys in Destin, Florida, or for that matter, anywhere along our gorgeous Emerald Coast, they are buying more than just real estate…it is the the lifestyle offered here — shopping, dining and unlimited fun in the sun in a part of Florida that boasts world-renowned beaches.
